Department of Nutrition and Health Promotion

The Department of Nutrition and Health Promotion obtained approval for the establishment of dietitian training facilities from the Ministry of Health and Welfare (now the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare) in 1951. Since then the Department has educated food and health professionals through various kinds of study based on a four-year, dietitian training course. Many alumni have passed the National Registered Dietitians Examination and ultimately assumed an active role in various fields as registered dieticians in hospitals, home economics teachers, technical staff in food companies, etc. There is also a path to public service as a dietitian. The Department has a lengthy history, supported by a record of achievement.

We develop national registered dietitians who can demonstrate extensive knowledge related to food and health in nutritional science and other disciplines, including food science, cooking science, health science, nutritional counseling, clinical nutrition and public health nutrition.
