The Department of International English has an International Club. NM is the leader of the International Club and NT is one of the members. In this article, they tell us about a visit from an Italian activist, who traveled by bicycle from all the way from Italy.（国際英語学科のインターナショナルクラブは、さまざまな国際交流を学内で行う学生グループです。先日、自転車で世界を旅し、日本に到着したイタリア人のステファノさんが本学を来訪し、インターナショナルクラブの学生たちと交流しました。クラブのリーダーNMさんとメンバーのNTさんに感想を聞きました。）

6月6日(金)、私たちはイタリア出身の自転車旅行家のステファノ・ラ・トッレさんと交流しました。そこでは、ステファノさんが自転車で旅を始めるきっかけや旅の途中で経験したことなどたくさんのお話を聞きました。その中でも特に印象に残っているのが、ステファノさんが旅の途中で、その地域の企業と連携し、地域貢献をしたというお話です。この活動は、その地域に住む方たちにとって非常に力になることであり、またステファノさんは、それによって得た資金をまた別の地域に行って役立てているということで、非常に感動しました。

On Friday, June 6th, we had the opportunity to meet and talk with Stefano La Torre, a bicycle traveler from Italy. He shared many stories with us, including what inspired him to start his journey and the experiences he had along the way. One of the most memorable stories was about how he collaborated with local businesses during his travels to contribute to the communities he visited. This activity was a great source of support for the local people, and it was very moving to hear how Stefano used the funds he received to help other regions as he continued his journey.

私がステファノさんの話を聞いて印象的だったことは私が将来の夢を聞いた時の答えです。ステファノさんは将来のことより今この時を楽しむことを大切にしていると教えてくれました。この答えを聞いて、時間の使い方を改めて見直そうと思いました。また、アドバイスとして、将来したいことより今したいことのために行動を起こして経験することが大切だと教えていただきました。貴重な経験ができて良かったです。

One thing that left a strong impression on me when I listened to Stefano was his answer when I asked about his dreams for the future. He told me that rather than focusing too much on the future, he values enjoying the present moment. Hearing this made me reflect on how I spend my own time. He also gave me some advice, saying that it's more important to take action and gain experience based on what you want to do now, rather than only thinking about what you might want to do in the future.

I’m really glad I had the opportunity to have this meaningful experience.
