Study Abroad (Report 4) Baseball Stadium 海外研修Ⅰ 現地レポート④カリフォルニアの野球場見学

In the fourth report from the study abroad program in California, students tell us about their 6th day in San Diego, when they visited Petco Park and Seaport Village. It was an amazing day full of new experiences.（カリフォルニア研修に参加した学生による報告の第4回をお届けします。）
サンディエゴに滞在して6日目の2月13日、私たちはペトコ・パークとシーポート・ヴィレッジを訪れました。新しい経験に満ちた素晴らしい一日でした。
First, we went to Petco Park. This is the home stadium of the San Diego Padres, a famous Major League Baseball team. We took a special tour and saw places that people cannot usually enter. We went into the dugout and even the locker rooms! I was surprised because the dugout felt very narrow. I thought it would be tight even if only 17 Japanese students sat there together.
まず、ペトコ・パークへ行きました。ここは有名なメジャーリーグチーム、サンディエゴ・パドレスの本拠地です。私たちは特別なツアーに参加し、普段は入れない場所を見学しました。ベンチ（ダグアウト）やロッカールームにも入りました！ベンチはとても狭く感じて驚きました。日本人学生17人で座っても窮屈だろうと思いました。
In the locker room, the guide showed us the exact spot Shohei Ohtani from the Dodgers uses when he plays against the Padres. It was a very special and exciting moment for me. We also visited the VIP rooms. I heard that a one-year contract for a VIP room costs $90,000 (about 13.5 million yen!). That is very expensive, but it is like a dream to think that some people actually buy them. After the tour, I stopped at the gift shop and bought many souvenirs.
ロッカールームでは、ドジャースの大谷翔平選手がパドレスと対戦する時に使っている場所をガイドさんが教えてくれました。私にとって、とても特別でワクワクする瞬間でした。また、VIPルームも見学しました。VIPルームの1年間の契約料は約9万ドル（約1,350万円）もかかると聞きました！とても高価ですが、実際にそれを買う人がいると思うと夢があります。ツアーの後、ギフトショップに寄ってたくさんのお土産を買いました。
Next, we went to Seaport Village around lunchtime. I ate the lunch my host family made for me, and then I went straight to an ice cream shop! I ordered a mint chocolate shake. By the 6th day of this program, I am getting used to ordering in English. I was able to ask the staff, "Can I pay with cash?" I felt my English skills are improving. The shake was very big, but it tasted delicious.
次に、お昼頃にシーポート・ヴィレッジへ行きました。ホストファミリーが作ってくれたランチを食べ、その後すぐにアイスクリーム屋さんへ向かいました！私はミントチョコシェイクを注文しました。このプログラムの6日目ともなると、英語での注文にも慣れてきました。店員さんに「現金で払えますか？」と聞くこともできました。自分の英語力が向上していると感じました。シェイクはとても大きかったですが、美味しかったです。
Seaport Village is a beautiful place with a great view of the ocean. To me, it felt like time was moving slowly there. I wanted to stay there forever, and it became my favorite place in San Diego. I really want to go back there if I have time!
シーポート・ヴィレッジは海が綺麗に見える美しい場所です。私にとっては、そこでは時間がゆっくり流れているように感じました。ずっとそこにいたいと思えるほど、サンディエゴで一番お気に入りの場所になりました。もし時間があれば、ぜひもう一度行きたいです！
Our students are falling in love with San Diego! We're so glad that the study abroad experience is such a meaningful one.
